About RTP
History
Established in 1976, RTP brought together transportation services from the Portland Chapter of the American Red Cross, York-Cumberland Senior Services, and the Social Services of the Greater Portland Transit District. Since then, RTP has grown to provide low-cost, accessible transportation to seniors, social service clients, economically disadvantaged individuals, and persons with disabilities throughout Cumberland County (excluding Brunswick and Harpswell).
With a fleet of over 29 lift-equipped buses and vans, 30 agency-certified drivers, and a dedicated volunteer program of 20+ volunteer drivers, we proudly serve over 2,500 people countywide each year. Overall, RTP provides more than 600 daily rides for medical appointments, grocery shopping, work, and other essential trips. Additionally, operating from 1 Ledgeview Dr in Westbrook, ME, our team runs daily routes across Cumberland County to provide convenient door-to-door rider pickups and drop-offs.
Currently, we serve 27 towns across the county. Some of our primary communities include Portland, South Portland, Scarborough, Cape Elizabeth, Westbrook, Gorham, Falmouth, Yarmouth, Freeport, Windham, Standish, Casco, and Bridgton.

Get Involved
We are always looking for GREAT volunteer drivers to provide rides to people throughout Cumberland County.
In this role, volunteer drivers use their personal vehicles and get reimbursed .50 cents per mile, including the miles traveled to-and-from your home, plus any tolls and parking expenses. Our volunteer drivers have good people skills, a clean, reliable vehicle, and a safe driving record. Background checks are required and training is provided.

Title VI Statement
RTP is committed to ensuring that no person is excluded from participation, denied benefits, or otherwise subjected to discrimination under any program or activity on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability.
Any person who believes that he or she has been subjected to discrimination or retaliation based on their race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability may file a Title VI complaint. Complaints may be filed directly to RTP or to Maine DOT and must be filed in writing, signed by the complainant or a representative, and should include the complainant’s name, address, and telephone number or other means by which the complainant can be contacted. Additionally, complaints must be filed within 180 days of the date of the alleged discrimination.
Complaints should be filed to: Regional Transportation Program, Attn: Executive Director, 1 Ledgeview Dr, Westbrook, ME 04092 or Civil Rights Office, MDOT, 16 State House Station, Augusta, ME 04333-0016. RTP will respond to any written Title VI complaint within 10 business days.
